NEW: Position validation process
As of May 1, 2024, there is a new process to confirm that each vacant and encumbered position has an assigned budget. It also provides a complete, accurate and up-to-date list of active positions in Banner.

Exempt Exclusion Review
Mount Royal University has been working with leaders, staff, and the Mount Royal Staff Association to review all non-academic positions to ensure they are in line with the exclusion criteria as set out in section 1(1)(l) of the Alberta Labour Relations Code. Please review the information below:
Other Resources
Credit contracts are issued in each of the academic terms (e.g., September - December, January - April, May - June, July - August). This information explains who’s involved, the process, guidelines and forms.
What is the process?
- Leaders complete the recruitment process (including interviews, selection and offer).
- Credit contract administrators create a contract in the Banner instructional contract system.
- The contract starts at Ungranted/New status.
- Electronic signatures are obtained on the contract.
- The credit contract administrator tracks the signatures and updates the contract through Instructor Signed, Chair/Manager
- Granted and Dean/Director Granted status as each party signs the contract.
- The instructor submits any required paperwork (e.g., bank deposit forms, SIN verification, tax forms).
- The credit contract administrator prepares and submits all paperwork to the HR/Payroll team at payroll@mtroyal.ca.
- Payroll processes the contract and moves the contract to Payroll Processed status - contract is locked.
