Data can be a powerful tool for illustrating the inequities faced by many people in Canada. Data describing employment and income, housing, health, violence and crime, and numerous other topics can underscore the challenges faced by marginalized people. Data can also be used to highlight successes on the path to equality. And, sadly, data can be used to mislead, misrepresent, and deny agency. In this 30 minute presentation, we’ll discuss some key sources of data related to equity, diversity, and inclusion in Canada, and how we can critically examine data with an equity mindset.
