Interested in becoming involved in a research project while studying at Mount Royal? Looking for advice on how to get started? Join us as a panel of MRU students share their undergraduate research journeys. Panelists will discuss how they became involved in research, the knowledge and skills that contributed to their success as student researchers, and what their experience was like.


Featured panelists

Donald Golden is a fourth year athletic therapy student. He is currently working on two projects as a student research assistant investigating the role of muscle-tendon mechanics in hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and examining evidence informed practice in athletic therapy.

Leanne Lucas is a psychology student who received a Catamount Fellowship to research the intersection of families experiencing homelessness and their use of Children’s Services.

Kathleen Kjartanson is a recent MRU graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. She was a member of a student research team led by Dr. Tom Buchanan that examined the impact of mothers parenting children in Canada during the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Quinn Pelland is a Human Resources and General Management major and will graduate in spring 2023. While at MRU, Quinn completed the Faculty of Business and Communication Studies Honours program, with her thesis titled “The Importance of Compassion in Difficult Conversations with a Power Imbalance.”
