Students and employees must declare their vaccination status by Sept. 10
As shared in yesterday's communication, students and employees must declare their vaccination status by Sept. 10. If you missed the email, please go here for more information,. 

Vaccination clinics on campus Sept. 8, 9, 22 and 23
Alberta Health Services has added an extra day to its student vaccination clinic, which will be on campus in the Cougars Concourse (upstairs in Recreation) on Sept. 8 and 9. Vaccine buses will be at the East Gate on Sept. 22 and 23 and are open to everyone. Alberta Health Care cards or government-issued ID are required. First and second shots of Pfizer or Moderna are available.

World Suicide Prevention Day
Join us on Sept. 10 for World Suicide Prevention Day to increase your understanding of suicide ideation and work towards destigmatization. Learn how you can support someone who is struggling, see what resources are available for those looking for help and wear a ribbon to show your support. Ribbons will be available on billboards across campus and in room I151. mru.ca/SuicidePrevention

Fans can once again cheer on their favourite Cougars team this year. On Saturday at 1 p.m., watch the Cougars women's soccer team take on the U of C Dinos at their home opener. Go here to find all the games and go Cougars!

Welcome back and appreciation gifts remain in transit
Supply chain issues continue to affect the delivery of MRU employees’ appreciation gifts. We apologize for the delay. Employees will be advised as soon as possible upon receipt of the gifts, and will be able to pick their choice of a 22-ounce water bottle, a 12-ounce coffee mug or a grey junior portfolio from the Cougars Campus Store. Please bring in your OneCard or provide your name, employee ID and initial. Availability will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

As of today, The Table is now open from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. More information about food services on campus can be found here.   

MyMRU software platform change
MyMRU will move from Luminis to the Cascade CMS platform for increased cybersecurity in September. The look and usability of the site will not change much; however, subtle changes will be noticeable within some portlets. Questions? Email cms@mtroyal.ca.

Furniture and move requests for approved accommodations are prioritized     
Facilities Management continues to receive a high volume of requests for additional furniture, moves and office furniture reconfigurations. Requests based on accommodations approved by EHS/HR are prioritized. Requests must be submitted through Frontline. Facilities Management is working hard to complete all moves and furniture requests in a timely manner, and has allocated extra resources to do so.

Annual irrigation system blowout occurs week of Sept. 20
Please use caution outdoors in the following areas during the week of Sept. 20: the sports fields on Sept. 20 and 21; main campus grounds on Sept. 22 and 23; and the West Residence on Sept. 24. Water in the irrigation system has to be blown out of the lines to prevent freezing. This is a loud and potentially hazardous operation, so everyone is asked to stay away from the irrigation heads and the compressor. Questions may be directed to fm@mtroyal.ca.

Healthcare Simulation Week Sept. 13 to 17
The Faculty of Health, Community and Education will be hosting a series of student-focused events in celebration of Healthcare Simulation Week from Sept. 13 to 17. Simulation is a learning strategy that recreates an environment giving learners the experience of a realistic event. Follow @mruSimulationLearningCentre on Instagram to learn more about the minute-to-win-it challenges and watch as students, faculty and leadership test their skills.

International fellowship granted
Associate Professor Kevin O'Connor, PhD, chair of MRU’s Department of Education, was recently granted a fellowship with the North American Association of Environmental Educators for the Civics and Environmental Education Change Fellow. The fellows represent seven countries including the U.S. and its territories, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Canada, Germany, Mexico and Uganda. Read more.

Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list

As each semester begins (August/September and December/January), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
