Reporting COVID-19 symptoms/test results/return from travel
If you are an employee with COVID-19 symptoms, have tested positive for COVID-19 or have returned from international travel, you are required to complete the Employee Self-Isolation Report Form. Please do so even if you are continuing to work remotely. Wellness at Work in Human Resources will contact you to discuss sick leave benefits and return to work parameters. In the meantime, please follow Government of Alberta Isolation Requirements. Further information about COVID-19, including updates to Mount Royal’s sick leave provisions for COVID-related absences, can be found here.
In remembrance of Andrew Nguyen
In remembrance of Andrew Nguyen, former president of SAMRU and graduate of the Bachelor of Nursing program, the Mount Royal University Foundation is establishing the Andrew Nguyen Memorial Bursary, funds from which will be used to provide students with the opportunity to pursue their education and achieve their goals while alleviating financial stress. After graduation, Nguyen served on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic and volunteered in disaster relief in his free time. This summer Nguyen will also be honoured at the annual In Memoriam event.
Bell Let’s Talk Day reminder to access resources available to you
Bell Let’s Talk Day is Jan. 26, with the theme of supporting ourselves and each other. A number of resources are available to employees through Wellness at Work in Human Resources. Whether you need immediate help in a crisis or information about the various benefits available to support you through life challenges, the information is easy to find and access. List of in-person classes until Feb. 5
The Office of the Registrar has provided a list of classes that will take place in person that is up to date until Feb. 5, when the next phase of bringing students back will begin. The list can be found on the Registration website. Students should be notified of any changes to their schedule as soon as possible.

Multi-factor authentication and shared or delegated inboxes
Google has started sending email reminders to those who have not yet enabled multi-factor authentication (MFA) on their Mount Royal email account. This includes delegated inboxes and shared inboxes. Delegated inboxes do not require MFA so please disregard the reminder email. Shared inboxes do require MFA. The Cybersecurity Blog has additional details.
Vaccination vans on campus Feb. 14 and Feb. 22
The City of Calgary’s vaccination vans will be on campus Feb. 14 and Feb. 22 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a lunch break from noon until 1 p.m. The location will be near the Pride crosswalk between the Riddell Library and Learning Centre and the EA building. Countering Consumerism contest
MRU's Institute for Environmental Sustainability is running a Countering Consumerism Contest, where students are asked to post a social media video that inspires, encourages or incites mindful consumption of fashion for a chance to win $5,000 in cash prizes. Check out all the contest rules and share with your students.
SAMRU 2022 Annual General Meeting Feb. 9
Encourage students to attend the Students’ Association of Mount Royal University’s (SAMRU) 2022 Annual General Meeting. The AGM is an opportunity to ask questions, keep SAMRU accountable and stay informed. This year, new governors will be elected for vacant positions on the Board, with newly-elected governor candidates given the chance to debate and then be selected via online voting. The agenda will also include reviewing audited financial statements, the appointment of auditors and an opportunity for questions. Participants will be eligible to win prizes, including $500 cash. Did you know?
The Stevenson Plaza, adjacent to The Table, is named after John Stevenson, senior architect with the oldest architectural firm in Calgary. Stevenson’s father is James Stevenson, also a significant architect in early 20th-century Calgary, who established Fordyce Stevenson with partner George Fordyce in 1928. John was also one of the minds behind the design of the Calgary Airport, Knox United Church and Mac Hall at the University of Calgary, along with many others.

Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list sign-up
As each semester begins (August/September and December/January), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
