Bi-weekly pay advance form due May 4
Employees who are able to receive an advance to help cover the pay gap when switching to the bi-weekly pay schedule in mid-June received an email from Human Resources on April 25. Please complete the Google form and submit by the end of the day on Wednesday, May 4 if you wish to receive the advance. During the first week of May, an agreement document will be created and sent to you for your review, signature and return. For further details, please refer to MyMRU>Employee>Resources and Timesheets>Bi-Weekly Pay Schedule Information (underneath My HR Profile). Email hrpayrollproject@mtroyal.ca with any questions.

Sign up to Celebrate! Teaching and Learning
There is still time to register to celebrate teaching and learning at MRU on May 4 and 5. May 4 in-person events include concurrent sessions throughout the day in the Riddell Library and Learning Centre, the Distinguished Faculty Award presentations, keynote speaker Lauren Waldman (The Learning Pirate) and a reception in the Bella Theatre. Volunteer for the Spring 2022 Convocation ceremonies

First Responder to Sexual Assault and Sexual Abuse Training
This beginner, yet comprehensive ‘Identify, Respond and Refer’ training is available to staff and faculty and is beneficial to professionals and paraprofessionals who work with individuals who may be impacted by sexual violence and for other community members who are interested in increasing their skills and confidence to address sexual abuse and sexual assault. Register for June 14 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Human Research Ethics Board (HREB) Application Submissions Deadline
The deadline for submitting HREB applications for research involving human participants that require approval prior to June 15 is Friday, May 13 through the ROMEO system. Please contact the Ethics Compliance Officer at hreb@mtroyal.ca if you have any questions. More information.

Students chosen for undergraduate science and biotechnology research program
Two Bachelor of Science students have been accepted to the Amgen Scholars Program hosted by the University of Toronto. Zafina Budhwani and Senay Weldu Kasay are two of 15 students selected from all over Canada for the premier summer program.
Faculty book launch
Kelly Kaur, a fixed-term instructor with the English department’s novel Letters to Singapore (Stonehouse Publishing), will launch May 1, and is an account of a Singaporean transplant to Calgary and her correspondences with friends and family. Kaur’s poem, “A Singaporean’s Love Affair,” is also headed to the moon in two separate NASA missions in June 2022 and fall 2023, and is documented in the Lunar Codex website in Reading Hall C.

Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list sign-up
As each semester begins (August/September and December/January), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
