Employee EDI training course now available

Mount Royal employees can now access the University’s broad-based (introductory) equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) awareness and skills-building training course through Employee Training on MyMRU. Learn more at mru.ca/EDItraining.

University event calendar demonstration

MRU’s new event calendar will be launching on Tuesday, Aug. 22. Two 30-minute demonstrations of the new event submission form and the calendar are scheduled for Monday, Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in room T104. Please email Rob Petrollini to RSVP. Journey to Indigenization: Truth, Reconciliation and Decolonization from Sept. 22 to Oct. 4

Mount Royal University commemorates the Signing of Treaty 7, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Orange Shirt Day and Sisters in Spirit Day during a series of institutional activities over nine days called the Journey to Indigenization. Join one of numerous on-campus educational opportunities to start or continue your decolonization journey. Learn more.

LivingWorks Start Suicide Prevention Training

Start is online suicide-prevention training that teaches participants to recognize when someone is thinking about suicide and how to connect them to help and support through a four-step model. Start takes approximately 90 minutes to complete but can be worked through at your own pace. Once you have been provided access to a Start account you will have 60 days to complete the training before you lose access. To receive instructions about how to access a training account please fill out this form.

Work around the RLLC

Grounds will be installing a new irrigation system along the east side of the Riddell Library and Learning Centre closest to Richard Road. Also, areas in front of the building are cordoned off due to a water valve replacement. Work should be complete by Aug. 15. Visit mru.ca/BuildingNotifications for more information.

Hot-water tank replacement in B-wing

The hot-water tank above the B-Wing is scheduled to be replaced from July 19 to Aug. 15. Water supply will not be affected. The T-Wing courtyard will be fenced off during this time to support the work. Due to drilling, offices along the courtyard may experience minimal vibrations. It's time to make a list of your favourite programs to get ready for registration opening on Aug. 1. MRU recreation has tons of recreational sport, climbing, aquatics, and group training offerings with limited availability, so be sure to make note of your top picks ahead of time so you don't miss out. Academic Advising team wins ASSC award

The Alberta Services for Students Conference (ASSC) took place at Olds College at the end of June. During the conference, MRU’s Academic Advising Services team was presented with the ASSC award for Most Effective Team in Student Services, which goes to a team consisting of five or more members and that collectively demonstrates effective provision of student services through teamwork. Applications were evaluated by the conference’s provincial planning committee and selected through a majority vote process.

FAST Financial Reporting and FOAP's Training

Thurs., Aug. 17 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. — Virtual

An introduction to the chart of accounts (FOAP) and hands-on practice with the web-based FAST Reporting Application used at MRU for anyone responsible for monitoring or managing a budget. Register.

Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list

As each semester begins (August/September and December/January), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
