Join in welcoming new students

As the upcoming school year comes into view, preparation for New Student Orientation (NSO) is underway. NSO volunteers are key in supporting new and returning students. Journey to Indigenization: Truth, Reconciliation and Decolonization

Mount Royal University commemorates the Signing of Treaty 7, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Orange Shirt Day and Sisters in Spirit Day within a series of institutional activities over nine days. Join one of the numerous on-campus educational opportunities from Sept. 22 to Oct. 4 to start or continue your decolonization journey. Learn more.

Mount Royal’s previous EFAP no longer available Sept. 1

Employees should register with Inkblot, Mount Royal new Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), as Homewood Health, Mount Royal’s previous EFAP, will no longer be available as of Friday, Sept. 1. Learn more.

More choice in washroom facilities

On Friday, Sept. 1, some multi-user washrooms in the EA (Faculty of Arts) and EC (Roderick Mah Centre for Continuous Learning) buildings will be redesignated as all-gender, which means everyone can use them. Learn more about this change for a more equitable and inclusive campus, including the locations of these redesignated washrooms.

Free period products on campus

You can find free period products in the majority of women’s, all-gender and single-user washrooms on campus. (All of these locations will have these products shortly.) Having access to free period products means more members of our campus community can focus on and succeed in our mission of learning, teaching and information sharing rather than worrying about paying for or finding period products. New environmental services/custodial contractor effective Sept. 1, 2023

Mount Royal is pleased to announce that BEST Services Pros will be the new contractor for cleaning services at Mount Royal University, effective Sept. 1, 2023. There will be a transition period from Sept. 1 to 30 where both BEST Service Pros and the current contractor, Scot Young, will be on campus. Learn more. Are you multilingual?

MRU’s media relations team is looking for faculty media experts who are multilingual and would like to take on interviews in languages other than English. If you would like to be considered for future opportunities with non-English media outlets, please email mediarelations@mtroyal.ca to let the media team know what languages you speak.

Volunteer as a Curiosity Rover at Beakerhead

MRU is a sponsor of Beakerhead and is looking for Curiosity Rover volunteers! Be a part of the dynamic street crew dedicated to spreading ingenuity and inspiring awe. Engage attendees by asking Qs to spark their curiosity, encourage them to think deeply about the installations and motivate them to actively participate in the Beakerhead experience. Alumni Classroom Takeover returns in October

Calling all faculty members! MRU Alumni are ready to inspire and connect with your students by sharing their life and career experiences. This round of Alumni Classroom Takeover will run for the month of October. Don’t have alumni connections? No problem, The Office of Alumni Relations will help you find a suitable alum speaker. Sign up by Sept. 8 to inspire the next generation of alumni.

Wellness Wednesdays: Free meditation sessions

September can be a stressful month with the university in full swing. This fall, join Employee Wellness for 30-minute Mindfulness Meditation sessions. The Wellness Wednesdays sessions run weekly from 1:15 to 1:45 p.m. starting Sept. 20. Learn more and register now.

Get a jumpstart on mandatory cybersecurity training

Updated cybersecurity training for employees and contractors is now live. New employees have 60 days to complete their cybersecurity awareness training in addition to 30 days for Payment Card Industry (PCI) training. Current employees who successfully complete a pre-test assessment can opt out of some or all of their training requirements. Current employees who are required to complete cybersecurity training have until June 15 to do so. Learn more.

Group fitness returns to MRU with Rec’s new MOVE MORE program! Participate in one or more exciting new classes including HIIT, barre, yoga, spin and strength. MRU soccer double header kick-off

Join the Cougars as they kick-off another season of MRU soccer on Sept. 10 with the women at 1 p.m. and the men at 3 p.m. Food trucks will be on-site, as well as plenty of lawn games and other activities to keep you entertained for the afternoon. Grab your friends or come out and meet some new ones while you cheer on your Cougars! #WeAreTheCougars

Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list

As each semester begins (August/September and December/January), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
