Mandatory fire drill Jan. 23

A practice fire drill on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. will take up to 30 minutes. The drill includes an evacuation of all Lincoln Park campus buildings except Residence. Everyone must participate in this important safety exercise. Your cooperation is appreciated. Use the MRU Now app (iOS and Android) for fast notifications. Learn more about fire drills.

 

Submit outstanding 2023 benefit claims

Employees eligible for benefits coverage have until March 30, 2024 to submit any outstanding 2023 claims. Any credits left over in your Health Spending Account and/or Personal Spending Account will carry over into 2024, but any credits from 2022 will expire on March 31, 2024 and can only be used for claims dated in 2023. Mindfulness Meditation starts Jan. 8

Employee Wellness is pleased to offer weekly in-person Monday Mindfulness Meditation sessions beginning Jan. 8 in U111. This 30-minute session is dedicated to deep breathing and connecting with ourselves and others through sound. Learn more.

Instructor garners multiple awards in 2023

Dr. Brad Hayes, PhD, sessional instructor in the Faculty of Science, is BIG Media’s Person of the Year for 2023. Hayes is president of geoscience consulting firm Petrel Robertson Consulting Ltd. Earlier this year, Hayes was awarded the Stanley Slipper Gold Medal by the Canadian Energy Geoscientists Association. This award recognizes individuals that have made outstanding contributions to petroleum exploration and development in Canada over their careers.

 

Prof recognized for sustainability efforts

Dr. Ranjan Datta, PhD, assistant professor in the Faculty of Arts, received the Sustainability Champion Award 2023 from Global Ambassadors of Sustainability, a global network to promote sustainability and build international partnerships. Datta was recognized for his ‘commitment and progressive efforts' to promote sustainability practices.

Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list

As each semester begins (August/September and December/January), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
