Special message from President and Vice-Chancellor, Tim Rahilly, PhD
"It's been a very challenging year so as a gesture of deep appreciation, Friday, July 2 will be a day off with pay for all employees. I am taking this extraordinary step so you may have a four-day weekend and a well-deserved break. I am aware some units won't be able to take a day on July 2nd, in which case an alternative day will be selected for that area."
Continue to refrain from coming to campus unless required
The Province's recent Alberta's Open for Summer Plan has three phases, with Stage 1 starting on June 1. During this stage online/remote learning will continue, wherever possible, and in-person activity on campus is the exception rather than the norm. Stage 2 will occur two weeks after 60 per cent of Albertans 12 years old or older have received the first vaccine dose and hospitalizations continue to trend down. This is anticipated in mid-June. We will continue to provide updates. For the health and well-being of the campus community, vaccination is strongly encouraged.
Washrooms on Main Street and in the E and I Wings on all floors will be closed May 28
If you will be on campus on Friday, May 28, please be aware that plumbing repairs will force the closure of all washrooms in the E and I wings plus Main Street (all floors). Signs will be posted. There will be no cold water in E-Wing kitchens. This work is timed to occur when few or no employees or students are expected to be on campus.
FAQ about returning to campus for employees
As employees have questions about returning to campus, Human Resources has developed an FAQ. If you have a question that you do not find in the FAQ and your manager or chair does not know the answer, please email returntowork@mtroyal.ca.

Getting vaccinated during working hours
Mount Royal encourages all employees to get vaccinated as protection against COVID-19. Employees will have access to three hours of paid leave if needed under Bill 71. If appointments are made during regular working hours, please discuss with your manager.
