Every drop counts: water conservation on campus

With the City of Calgary enacting Stage 4 outdoor water restrictions, we are strictly limiting our outdoor water usage. In addition, everyone is being asked to reduce indoor water use to help maintain supply for critical functions. On campus, that means the steam rooms in Recreation are closed and there are changes in cleaning processes, among other measures. Learn more about what Mount Royal is doing to reduce water use and how you can contribute to this important effort.

 

Transition in HR leadership

Associate Vice-President, Human Resources, Arleen Gallo is semi-retiring when her contract expires at the end of June 2025. The University extends our deepest gratitude to Arleen for her significant contributions and unwavering dedication to Mount Royal. Her leadership has been instrumental in shaping the HR department and supporting the growth and success of Mount Royal.

This transition period will ensure continuity and stability within the HR department as the University embarks on a comprehensive search for a new leader. More information will be provided as the process develops.

 

Main Street table booking form

Event and Theatre Services would like to remind our campus community about the Main Street Table Booking Form, designed to streamline the booking process for faster and more efficient service. Bookmark the form, or find it on MyMRU.ca on the Employee Resources and TImesheets page under "Work Tools.” Club requests should be submitted through SAMRU, while individual student requests should go through their corresponding faculties.

The online webinar Establishing Healthy Boundaries takes place Sept. 11 from 10-11 a.m. Register now for the in-person Burnout Workshop on Sept. 18. Reminder: no backing in or pulling through parking stalls

Parking Services will issue up to two courtesy tickets per license plate for backing into or pulling through stalls until Sept. 15. Payment for parking is required at all times. As of Sept. 16, vehicles will be ticketed and/or towed. Learn more at mru.ca/Parking and this FAQ page.

Professor Corrine Mason, PhD, recently published "Who's Afraid of Gender?" in Canada's foremost feminist magazine Herizons. Mason is co-chair of the Women’s, Gender and Social Justice association at MRU and co-lead of QriTical: queer and trans research hub.

Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list

As each semester begins (August/September and December/January), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
