New members of the Board of Governors

 

The new student members, including Tala Abu Hayyaneh and Anisa Tilston, and non-academic staff member, Cheryl Melatdoost, have all received their Ministerial Orders and are officially MRU board members.  

 

 

Flu Clinic ends tomorrow 

 

Friday, Oct. 25 is the last day to get your flu shot on campus at the Flu Clinic in Wellness Services in U216 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment required. Simply bring your provincial health care card or number. Learn more.

 

 

Thanks for making Open House a success

 

The Admissions and Recruitment Office and the Marketing and Communications team send a huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in this year's Open House. All of the support, time and personal interactions with our guests is what makes MRU unique and creates such a memorable day. MRU welcomed over 3,000 guests on campus and repeatedly heard feedback of how guests' interactions with students, faculty and staff was the best part of their day. HR Info Hub now live

 

The HR Information Hub is now live, hosting all the HR-related information you need as an employee at Mount Royal. The HR content previously found on MyMRU, in the HR Toolkit and on HR webpages can now be found on the Hub. You can access the Hub from the Employee Resources and Timesheets page on MyMRU as well as via mru.ca/HRinfoHub

Construction on Main Street

 

Construction will start at the beginning of November to build a wall on the north side of the first level of Main Street. While much of this work will take place overnight, some will occur during regular University hours. Please respect all signage for your safety and that of others. Learn more.

 

 

Scheduled maintenance: Banner upgrade Nov. 8 to 10

 

Course registration, fee payments, timesheets and FAST will be unavailable beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 and lasting until 11 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10. This interruption is due to the annual fall update of Banner Admin and Self-Service. Gmail, D2L Brightspace and student printing will continue to function normally.

 

 

Winter weather on campus

 

Facilities Management prioritizes campus safety by clearing snow and ice from sidewalks, roads, handicap access and main entrances are cleared daily. Learn more about Mount Royal’s Snow and Ice Management Plan and how to report areas needing attention.

Register for upcoming wellness events

 

Join Employee Wellness for events through November that focus on nutrition and the mind-body connection, beginning with an Immersive Sound Meditation series on Thursdays in November and Dec. 5 and 12 from 12:05 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. in U111. Register for the workshop Caffeine and the Body with MRU’s Robyn Madden on Nov. 13 in E161 from 11a.m. to noon. Also on Nov. 13, from 2-3 p.m, join the virtual session How to Manage and Overcome Emotional Eating, presented by GreenShield Health. Learn more.

 

 

Reminder: Our EFAP provider is changing names

 

A reminder that Mount Royal’s Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) provider, Inkblot, is changing its name to GreenShield Health. For more details, refer to the email sent from Employee Wellness on Monday, Oct. 21. The EFAP webpage will be updated ahead of the official change occurring on Monday, Nov. 4.

 

 

International Photo Contest starts now

 

The International Photo Contest has returned as part of MRU’s annual International Education Week. Before Nov. 8, submit your best photo from anywhere around the world for a chance to win prizes and see your photo hung in the Bissett School of Business. 2025 Research and Scholarship Days

 

The 2025 Research and Scholarship Days will be held from March 31 to April 4. The Main Street Poster Presentations will be held across April 1 to April 2. As faculty plan for winter term courses, students can consider incorporating undergraduate research and participation in this celebration of research into their course work. Further details will be coming in the new year.

 

 

2025 Community-College-University Exposition (C2U EXPO)

 

MRU is participating in this year’s C2UEXPO 2025 conference, which will be held in Edmonton and hosted by MacEwan University. The C2UExpo is an international conference that showcases how community-campus partnerships are addressing global and local challenges. Researchers, practitioners, students, industry professionals and community members are all welcome to attend. The call for proposals is now open. Registration will be available in early 2025. Drop by Wyckham House for the annual Pow Wow on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 5 p.m. hosted by Mount Royal and SAMRU. This is an opportunity to participate in a sacred social gathering that honours the traditions and culture of Indigenous peoples through song and dance. Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list

As each semester begins (August/September and December/January), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
