Submit timesheets by Monday, Dec. 23

 

If possible, submit your timesheet by Monday, Dec. 23 to facilitate pre-holiday approvals. And remember that the next pay date has been adjusted to Monday, Dec. 23 (one day earlier than usual). Learn more.

 

Take advantage of benefits before 2025

 

A reminder for employees that are eligible for benefits that this year’s annual benefit amounts run out Dec. 31. The new benefits year begins Jan. 1, 2025. You have until March 30, 2025 to submit any outstanding 2024 claims. Any funds left over in your Health Spending Account and/or Personal Spending Account will carry over into 2025. Learn more about your HSA/PSA and a list of eligible expenses. 

 

Faculty Excellence Awards: Nominations

 

Nominate a Mount Royal faculty member for the 2025 Faculty Excellence Awards, which recognize their outstanding contributions to teaching, research, scholarship and service. There are three award categories: Distinguished Faculty Awards, Teaching and Learning Awards, and Research Recognition Awards. Nominations close at 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, 2025. Learn more.

 

ITS update: Service outage Sunday, Dec. 22

 

On Sunday, Dec. 22, MyMRU, Banner Self-Service — including timesheet submission, fee payment and course selection — Banner Admin and other platforms accessed by MRU single sign-on will be offline from midnight to 2 a.m. for maintenance. D2L and Google Workspace services will be unaffected.

 

G-wing update: Work over the holiday break

 

Work is ongoing on the deep services replacement (DSR) project in G-wing over the holiday break as we continue to develop the space into a vibrant hub of student-based services and activity. Learn more.

Join Employee Wellness for financial health events for Wellness Wednesdays in the month of January! Register for Mortgages In An Ever-Changing Financial Landscape with Calgary mortgage associate Jason Dodd on Jan. 8 at 10 a.m. in E161. SunLife is hosting a session on Building Your Wealth Through Investing on Jan. 15 at 10 a.m. on Zoom. Learn more and register now.

Supporting students together: SAMRU programs

 

This holiday season, remember that SAMRU offers a variety of food and financial resources to students who may be experiencing a need for support. Those struggling with food or financial insecurity may display signs of stress, absenteeism, or express concerns about their ability to afford basic needs. You can help by directing students to samru.ca and info@samru.ca for more information, or suggest they visit the Peer Support Centre (Z210) for confidential, in-person guidance. Learn more.

Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list

As each semester begins (August/September and December/January), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
