Attend budget information session on Thursday, Jan. 30

Join Mount Royal’s Provost and Vice-President, Academic, Dr. Chad London, PhD, and Vice-President, Finance and Administration, Mustansar Nadeem, for a budget information session at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30 in Ross Glen Hall. The session will be recorded and posted on MyMRU for those who can’t attend. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to stay informed and engage in the ongoing dialogue about MRU's budget. If you’d like to submit a question, please fill out this form by the end of day Friday, Jan. 24.

 

New benefit year begins; submit 2024 benefits claims by March 30

Reminder: Faculty Excellence Awards nominations

 

Nominate a Mount Royal faculty member for the 2025 Faculty Excellence Awards, recognizing their outstanding contributions to teaching, research, scholarship and service. There are three award categories: Distinguished Faculty Awards, Teaching and Learning Awards, and Research Recognition Awards. Nominations close at 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13. Learn more.

 

 

G-wing update: Disruptive work underway

 

The deep services replacement (DSR) project in G-100 is underway. While necessary for the transformation of the G-wing into a modern, engaging space, this work will cause disruption in surrounding areas between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 a.m. Expect some construction noise during the day as well. ITS update: Service interruption Sunday, Jan. 12

 

Information Technology Services will perform essential equipment upgrades on Sunday, Jan. 12, from 7 p.m. to midnight. During this time, brief disruptions to phone, Wi-Fi, and internet services (approximately 15 minutes) will occur in Recreation and the Iniskim Centre. In the EC building, services will be unavailable for up to one hour. Thank you for your understanding.

Main floor washroom temporary closure in RLLC


The multi-user all-gender washrooms on the main floor of the Riddle Library and Learning Center (RLLC) will be closed for plumbing repairs from Tuesday, Jan. 14, to Wednesday, Jan. 22. Intermittent drilling noise may occur during working hours. Individual all-gender washrooms are available on every floor of the RLLC.

 

 

ITS update: Banner upgrade Jan. 24 to 26

 

Banner, the system Mount Royal uses to maintain student, financial and personnel data, will be offline from 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24 through 10 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26 for an upgrade. Services unavailable during this time include employee and student self-service portals. The deadline for employees to submit their timesheets has been extended to 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 27.

MRU Health Services welcomes new mental health only family physician

The MRU Health Services is thrilled to offer another mental health only family physician at the clinic. Dr. Carolyn Wong will join MRU on Jan. 20 and see patients exclusively for mental health needs. Patient appointments are first booked with the mental health nurse online or by calling the clinic, before being referred to the physician. This service is available to students and employees.

Reach new heights: Attend rock climbing classes

Join Employee Wellness and Recreation Services for an exhilarating non-instructional rock wall climbing experience. Employee attendees can expect a safe, encouraging and experimental setting. Recreation staff will be supervising the session and monitoring participants' use of both auto belay and personal belay systems. All equipment is provided and no experience is necessary. Register now for all classes or select the individual classes you can attend.

As each semester begins (August/September and December/January), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
