Call for volunteers: Grand Entry flag bearers
Up to 13 volunteers are needed to carry flags during the Grand Entrance of the Indigenous Honouring Ceremony on June 10 at 10 a.m. Volunteers will lead the procession to the stage, placing their flags in holders. Flags will also be carried out at the end of the event, though different volunteers may assist at that time. The procession lasts about 15 minutes, and training will be provided in advance. Summer Block Party
Mark your calendar and come hang out with colleagues and friends on Wednesday, June 4, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the East Gate Lawn. It’s the perfect chance to soak up some sunshine and enjoy sweet treats before summer kicks off.

IT update: J Drive upgrade June 6 to 9
ITS is upgrading the J Drive storage system from 10 p.m. on Friday, June 6, until 7 a.m. on Monday, June 9, to ensure performance and reliability. Please save and close all J Drive files and turn off your computer by 10 p.m. on Friday, June 9, to avoid data loss. During the weekend, J Drive access will be limited, and some recent changes might not appear immediately.
Register for the Teaching and Learning Expo
Explore educational innovation and best practices at the Teaching and Learning Expo happening Aug. 25 to 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Riddell Library and Learning Centre and Jenkins Theatre. Be inspired by colleagues' teaching methods, imagine transformative learning environments and ignite a passion for educational excellence. EA elevator out of service
The elevator in the EA building is out of service until further notice. Building Operations is working with the elevator technician to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Additional updates will be shared via mru.ca/BuildingNotifications as information becomes available.
G-wing update: Vibrations and construction on Main Street
If you’re in the vicinity of G-100 in the main building, you may feel vibrations due to compaction work on the Deep Services Replacement project. This phase of the project will take place day and night and is expected to last until Tuesday, June 10. Learn more.
Call for presentations and moderators
The Office of Indigenization and Decolonization is seeking presenters and moderators for Journey to Indigenization, an event that showcases how Indigenous worldviews, pedagogies and partnerships are enriching teaching, learning and community engagement at MRU. Past sessions have included storytelling, curriculum innovation, collaborative capstone projects, land-based learning and cultural immersion models. Apply by June 3.
Focus on physical health with summer wellness events
Employee Wellness is focusing on physical health in June and July. On June 4, GreenShield Health will host a Zoom webinar on Fitness and Nutrition Myth Busting from 10 to 11 a.m. A seven-week Zumba series begins on June 19 from 12:05 to 12:55 p.m. in the TransCanada Amphitheatre. Summer 2025: Rec updates and closure reminder
The track-level flooring and Triple Gym bleachers are being replaced to maintain a safe environment. The Triple Gym closes Thursday, June 5, and the track level on Monday, June 9. Both will reopen early in the fall semester. Over the summer, employees can still use the Stanley Gym, fitness centre, squash courts and more. Learn more.
