Ratification of MRFA Collective Agreement
A new collective agreement between the Mount Royal Faculty Association (MRFA) and the Board of Governors of Mount Royal University has been ratified. It covers the period from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2028, and reflects the outcome of productive bargaining. The resulting agreement contains many improvements that will benefit MRFA members, Mount Royal University and our students. Learn more.
EA elevator out of service
The elevator in the EA building is out of service. Repairs are expected to take until early July. To use the stairlift located in the stairwell at the west corner of the EA building near the main building (EAST01), contact Security at 403.440.6897. Visit mru.ca/BuildingNotifications for updates.
Complete your cybersecurity training by June 15
Log on to the new cybersecurity training platform and complete your required training by June 15. Learn more about protecting yourself and Mount Royal from cyber threats.
Annual electrical maintenance shutdown
The main campus building, including A-wing and Recreation, will be closed from 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, to 6 a.m. on Sunday, June 15, for an electrical shutdown. Office fridges will be without power and remote VPN will be unavailable. Remote PC power downs and power ups will be managed with the help of ITS as needed. Email fm@mtroyal.ca with questions.
Summer hours
Summer hours come into effect Tuesday, July 1, and run through Thursday, Aug. 14. The regular operating hours for most departments will be 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break. Exceptions are necessary for some departments, and leaders will communicate those exceptions with their teams as needed.
Yahoo! Stampede Parade morning holiday
The morning (8:30 a.m. to noon) of the Calgary Stampede Parade on Friday, July 4, is a paid holiday for all Mount Royal employees. If your regular hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (summer hours), you’re expected to work the balance of the day from 12:30 to 4 p.m. If you’d like to take off the rest of Parade Day, please get approval from your supervisor and report the 3.5 hours as leave/vacation on your timesheet.
Measles: Recognize symptoms
Be vigilant for signs of measles: high fever, cough, red/watery eyes, a red/blotchy rash and more. Early detection can help contain the virus. Learn more at mru.ca/Measles.
Register for the Teaching and Learning Expo
Explore educational innovation and best practices at the Teaching and Learning Expo happening Aug. 25 to 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Riddell Library and Learning Centre and Jenkins Theatre. Summer 2025: Rec updates and closure reminder
The track-level flooring and Triple Gym bleachers are being replaced to provide a safe environment for all of our facility users. The Triple Gym and the track level are now closed and will reopen early in the fall semester. Over the summer, users can still access the Stanley Gym, fitness centre and squash courts, among others. Celebrate Pride and Indigenous History Month with the Library
June marks both Indigenous History Month and Pride Month, and the MRU Library is recognizing these important celebrations with two featured collections that amplify diverse voices and experiences. The 2SLGBTQIA+ collection highlights works by and about Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer communities, available online and in a physical display on the third floor. You can also explore the Indigenous History Month book display — featuring works by Indigenous authors and creators — online and on the second floor of the Library.

Physical wellness events this summer
Employee Wellness is focusing on physical health in June and July. A seven-week Zumba series begins on June 19 from 12:05 to 12:55 p.m. at the Transcanada Amphitheatre. On June 26, the Canadian Blood Services Life Bus will be providing transportation for a Group Blood Donation. A four-week tennis lesson series begins on July 9 from noon to 1 p.m. at the campus tennis courts. Learn more and register.
