Help kick off the new semester at Weeks of Welcome
From music and free food to games, giveaways and community-building events, Weeks of Welcome (WOW) and New Student Orientation set the tone for a vibrant start to the year. WOW runs Sept. 4 to 18 with a variety of events across campus to engage with new and returning students. Journey to Indigenization: Sept. 20 to Oct. 4
You’re invited to a series of events to commemorate the signing of Treaty 7, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Orange Shirt Day and Sisters in Spirit Day. EA elevator update
Elevator repairs in the EA building are now complete. An inspection, tentatively scheduled for the end of the month, is required for the elevator to return to service. G-wing update: Main Street washrooms closed
As part of the G-wing renovation project, the washrooms along Levels 1 and 2 of Main Street are closed. These closures are expected to remain in place for approximately one year. To help you find nearby options, including accessible and all-gender washrooms, visit mru.ca/Washrooms for a searchable campus map. Look for signage on Main Street to guide you to the closest facilities.
Apply for the Indigenization Access Fund
The Indigenization Access Fund supports Indigenous faculty with initiatives related to indigenization and decolonization, including curriculum development and delivery, conference or travel costs, event expenses, reassigned time and more. Apply with a project description, timeline and proposed budget by Friday, Sept. 12. Non-Indigenous faculty are welcome to apply Winter 2026. Learn more.
MRU welcomes new VP, finance and administration
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Michael (Mike) Lam as vice-president, finance and administration, effective Aug. 25. Lam comes to Mount Royal following an extensive search and will lead the Finance and Administration Division, which encompasses many of the University’s non-academic operations, including Finance, commercial operations, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, internal audit, Event and Theatre Services, and Facilities Management. Leadership Matters: Driving Change and Innovation in Higher Education and Healthcare
Join this free international webinar on Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The webinar is co-hosted by Associate Professor Liza Choi of MRU's School of Nursing and Midwifery and will feature three speakers: Dr. Julian Barling, PhD (Queen’s University, Smith School of Business), Dr. Elizabeth Saewyc, PhD (University of British Columbia, School of Nursing) and Dr. Leigh Chapman, PhD (Chief Nursing Officer of Canada, Health Canada). Employee Wellness: Focus on stress management
This fall, Employee Wellness is focusing on ways to manage stress and promote well-being. Kick off September with the three-part Burnout and Resilience workshops designed to help you recognize burnout, recover from symptoms, and build long-term health and resilience. Apply for the EDI Opportunity Fund
The EDI Opportunity Fund provides financial support of up to $10,000 to propel initiatives that identify and remove systemic barriers on campus. It supports projects, large and small, that advance inclusion at Mount Royal. The Fall 2025 deadline A is Sept. 9 for projects taking place in fall or winter term, up to March 31, 2026. Learn more.
