Open hours and building access
Main building: East Gate, West Gate and Recreation entrances are open to the public seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Employees can swipe in before and after hours (from 5:30 a.m. until 11:30 p.m.).
Other perimeter entrances to the main building require a OneCard: There are now OneCard card readers at Gauthier Court, Memorial Garden, theatre perimeter doors, the O/T-wing crossover and all perimeter doors to EA, EB and EC. Card readers were installed while everyone was away.
Current students: Those taking summer courses can swipe into buildings in which they have classes.
RLLC: Closed to the public. Employees and current students can swipe into the main front entrance. Employees can also swipe in from the east side parking lot.

Masks on campus no longer required
Aligning with current provincial regulations and municipal bylaws, Mount Royal no longer requires mask wearing in shared and public indoor spaces. The most current information on campus restrictions can be found here. If you have a question, email covid19@mtroyal.ca. While many restrictions have been lifted, please remain vigilant and continue to practise health measures that reduce the spread of respiratory infections like COVID-19. The greatest of these is to get vaccinated.
Recommendations for meeting etiquette
For group meetings, be aware of different comfort levels. Book meetings in rooms that will allow for additional spacing, or meet outdoors or online. Be courteous: maintain a respectful distance between yourself and others. Support the choices of others.
Cybersecurity training will vary by role and knowledge
Under the new annual cybersecurity training, employees will take a "pre-test" to determine how much, if any, training they have to do. Employees in high-risk roles like finance will have to do specialized training. New employees are required to complete the full training in their first year. Find out more.
How to deal with sticky new office keys
If your office key has been replaced as part of the ongoing campus-wide lock update, it may be sticky the first few times you use it. When trying your key for the first time, jiggle it around in the lock a few times and try again before calling Security. There've been no instances of incorrect keys for the new locks, just keys that at first seem not to work.
Cougar Classic Golf Tournament
The Cougar Classic Golf Tournament, taking place at the Cottonwood Golf and Country Club on Aug. 19, is always a top summer event for MRU. Enjoy lunch, golf, cocktails and prizes ― all while showing support for the MRU Cougars and student-athlete scholarships.
