Personal and Health Spending Accounts
Eligible employees, look for an email from benefits@mtroyal.ca in early November with details on opting in to either Personal (taxable, but covers many more goods and services) or Health Spending (not a taxable benefit) Accounts for the next benefit year.
Hybrid Work Program launches Jan. 1, 2024
Mount Royal’s Hybrid Work Program comes into effect Jan. 1, 2024. Eligible employees interested in taking part (including those in the Hybrid Work Trial) should apply as soon as possible. Learn more.
Ongoing work in Q, R, N, X and W wings
Facilities Management is replacing door latch covers in the Q, R, N, X and W wings. Work takes place on weekdays after 3 p.m. and involves minimal noise disruption. Those in the affected areas have been contacted.

Cougars men's soccer hosts Canada West quarter-finals
Cougars men's soccer has secured first place in the Prairie Division for the fourth consecutive season, earning the right to host the first weekend of Canada West playoff action. Join us on Saturday as MRU takes on the TRU Wolfpack at 1 p.m. at the Mount Royal Stadium Field. Admission is free, so grab your friends and come cheer on your Cougars! #WeAreTheCougars
EDI Opportunity Fund gets a boost after a successful first year
Dr. Moussa Magassa, PhD, associate vice-president of the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, shares an update on the incredible success of the EDI Opportunity Fund, which was made available to MRU employees and students for the first time last year. Not only does this resource remain available, the Office of EDI has 2022/23 numbers to report, exciting news about additional support, and a call to help connect more students with the fund. Conservatory concert to feature many special guests
The Conservatory is proud to be a sponsor of The Music of Michael Brecker, which will feature several well-known and familiar faces, including a number of Conservatory instructors. The concert will feature 5-time Grammy-winning musician Gil Goldstein, as well as the music of the late saxophone legend Michael Brecker. A “somewhat unusual” 15-piece hybrid ensemble will feature all-Alberta musicians and a string quartet, brass, winds and rhythm section. The concert will take place on Friday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bella Concert Hall. Tickets.
Winter has arrived (a bit early)
Reducing snow and ice hazards are priorities for Facilities Management and the University. Sidewalks, roads, disabled access points, main entrances and parking lots are cleared on a daily basis. Learn more about Mount Royal’s Snow and Ice Management Plan, including priorities, notifications and how to report an area that requires attention.
Donating blood is easy with the Life Bus
Each month, the Life Bus comes to campus to pick up MRSA members and take them to the Eau Claire Canadian Blood Services Clinic. Pick up for the Nov. 22 bus is at 12:15 p.m. at the East Gate outside the Continuing Education building. Appointments start at 12:45, and typically donors return to campus by 1:30 to 2 p.m. This is considered community work and qualifies for release time (please talk with your manager). All are welcome to celebrate West Residence’s 20th anniversary
We invite you to join us in commemorating the 20th Anniversary of West Residence being an integral part of the University on Nov. 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at RB1025 (West Residence B Building across from the Front Desk).
